No costs for article processing (No APC)

Revista nuestrAmérica is edited by an academic group that does not depend on any institution and that works motivated by the diffusion and use of critical and decolonial thinking. It does not have economic interests so no charge is applied for the processing of the postulated works. The journal does not pay economically to those who contribute to it by publishing.

Evaluation results and publication

The result of the evaluations of the submitted works will be informed in a maximum time of 4 weeks. This period of time  will not apply to the "Dossier" section, which will only begin its evaluations once its call is completed, regardless of when the proposed article arrived.

Frequency of publication

Revista nuestrAmérica works with a continuous periodicity regime as follows: one (1) volume per year composed of two (2) issues covering the periods January-June and July-December. The journal will publish immediately after approving the article

Plagiarism detection policy

Plagiarism cannot be considered as a mistake of who submits an article for review, but as a crime because it has intentionally concealed the recognition of the authorship of the work and is intended to appropriate the intellectual effort of others for their own benefit . For this reason, Revista nuestrAmérica uses an anti-plagiarism program, which at the moment is Plagiarism Checker X. This program is used when receiving the articles and before any submission for evaluation.

Guarantee of publication to external persons of our association

Revista nuestrAmérica is committed to open publications and calls that reach the greatest number of people. For the same reason, and to avoid endogamic material, the publication of people external to our publishing entity is guaranteed, establishing that those who participate in the different councils of our journal cannot publish in it. This will be applied transversally for the whole team including the directory. It will be allowed, after justification, that some member of the team postulate an article that in any case will be submitted to evaluation just like any other person.

About consecutive publication to the same person

Revista nuestrAmérica establishes waiting periods for anyone who wishes to publish in our regular issues. The specifications are:

Anyone who has published in the sections "Dossier" or "Free Topic Articles" must wait 3 issue in order to postulate a new publication in these sections.

If a person has published in the sections "Dossier" or "Free Topic Articles" and wishes to present another paper  in  other sections, he / she must wait 1 issue by half before being authorized to do so.

If a person published in the sections "Dossier" or "Free Topic Articles" and after 1 number  published in another section of the magazine, they will have to wait 3 issues before being able to present a new work .

A person who has published in the sections "Militant Academy", "Conferences and interviews" or "Reviews" may apply to the sections "Dossier" or "Free Articles" as long as 1 issue has passed since publication and in the case if your new proposal is published, you will have to wait 3 numbers in order to republish.

Whoever has published in the sections "Militant Academy", "Conferences and interviews" or "Reviews" may present another work again to any of these sections as long as 1 number has passed and if accepted their proposal will have to wait 3 issues  present another work again.

The interviews in the section "Conferences and interviews" will not have this restriction since its nature is academic and cultural dissemination and not scientific research; its publication will be subject to the editorial decision of the directory made up of the Director, the Editors in Chief and the Executive Editor of Revista nuestrAmérica.

Anyone who has published in the section "Student articles" will have to wait 1 number in order to present a new work in this same section. In the case that their second submission is accepted, they will have to wait for 2 issues in order to presenta new text. If they published in the section articles of students and then in another section, the terms mentioned in the other sections will apply.

* This policy will be applied independently to the order of authorship, whether it is principal authorship or co-authorship.

Policy of collaboration and editorial fraternity

Revista nuestrAmérica is committed to the construction of a knowledge that questions academic selfishness. For this reason, it is a commitment to participate in collective instances together with teams from other journals, or associations of various kinds, in order to promote the decolonization of knowledge.

Best practices guidelines and editorial ethics

Added to the following indications, Revista nuestrAmérica adheres to “COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors”.

Editorial Team: It guarantees that each publication will offer scientific quality and maintain the declared frequency. It will be impartial and evaluate all papers presented in peer review in a double-blind peer review system. From its report , the works will be accepted or rejected. It will ensure the quality of published material even after its publication date if an unethical practice such as plagiarism, misrepresentation of sources or invention of data were detected. It will also ensure that the publications of each volume do not reiterate the same authorship.

Authors: They must guarantee that their articles are original, unpublished and that they have not been presented to other publications simultaneously, which will be guaranteed through the declarations of originality and the transfer of rights that they will attach with their proposals. They cannot exaggerate the importance and application of the results of their research, so they will have to be critical and specific in the same. They must cite all the works they have used in the body of the article, because otherwise it could even be considered as plagiarism. Only the material that has been explicitly cited within the body of the article may appear in the reference table.

If their research has received any type of subsidy, it must be declared in order to avoid conflicts of interest, the failure to include them in such cases may be grounds for elimination of the article even after its publication. Also, they must specify if their research has had more participants in its preparation.

They will be receptive to criticism and suggestions and will deliver the requested corrections in the established times. They will also have the possibility to communicate to the editorial team any errors they may find in their own proposals during the evaluation period.

Evaluators: They will carry out the work requested in the time available for such work. Their review will judge originality, scientific input, management of sources, correct use of concepts and theories. They will report unethical practices such as plagiarism, conflicts of interest or multiple publication attempts. They will use a respectful language to communicate their observations and keep all the information worked in complete confidentiality.

They will maintain a critical position towards their own work, disabling themselves in cases in which they are considered to have insufficient experience or knowledge to proceed, and will decline any participation when this could generate conflicts of interest.

Guidelines and norms for authors

About the peer review process

Guarantees of evaluation: Revista nuestrAmérica uses a peer-review system in double-blind format. This means that the articles will be received and sent for evaluation by a competent person in the area. The article sent will not have name, academic degree or institutional affiliation of who wrote it to avoid subjectivities in the evaluation. In the same way,  no information of who evaluates will be given to authors  to avoid communication between the parties. It is assured that only professional evaluators with the same or higher academic degree than the holder of the work presented for evaluation officiate.

All the recommendations made in the evaluation will be communicated through the Executive Editor of the journal.  It will be revealed in no instance who evaluated a particular article.

About the evaluation process: The evaluation of the postulated works begins with the submission of the documents to our journal through the means established by each call, which can be directly on our OJS platform or through the mail  Submissions to the "Free topic Articles" section will always be through our OJS.

The first stage of evaluation is  exclusively relevante to the directory of the journal that will establish whether the proposals are of interest or not for Revista nuestrAmérica [this stage will only consider what appears in the abstracts]. This is done under the criteria of our editorial line and the decision is irrefutable. Once it is considered to be of interest, all indicators of authorship will be removed from the document and sent to a minimum of two academic pairs with expertise in the area so that they will evaluate according to the criteria indicated in our evaluation guide.

The postulated works must have both positive evaluations to be published. In the cases that both evaluations reject it, this work is discarded irrefutably. In the cases of controversy in which one evaluation approves it and the other one disapproves it, a third evaluation will be used to resolve the conflict.

The possible results will be: 1) accepted, 2) rejected and 3) accepted with modifications. The rejections are unappealable and the person will have to present, if s/he wishes, another work. Papers accepted with modifications do not ensure their publication, this will only materialize if the modifications are applied in the time indicated for that purpose. If the latter is not fulfilled, the work will be rejected.

* The evaluation guide used by our team can be downloaded in this LINK.
